Step inside Manola's eclectic Apartment
Carla: Can you please introduce your role within the company?
Manola: I split my time between working on residential projects, Kids projects and our e-shop. No day is ever the same, one morning I can be on a construction site with electricians and the next hour picking trimmings in our Atelier. As an interior designer I spend most on my time on the concepts and the design of projects, but also with clients and coordinating with our team. Being a family business, Sabrina, Carla and I also obviously take care of the sometimes less “sexy” part such marketing, events, finances, admin, recruiting logistics with our team.
Carla: What was the inspiration behind the flat?
Manola: My style changes all the time and working in interior design, we want to switch things up in our homes all the time ! At the time, the inspiration for my flat was a comfortable but minimal, monochrome black & white, “ethnic chic” Christian Liaigre inspired vibe.
Carla: What is your favorite item in the house?
Manola: When I moved in, I remember calling my mother and telling her the only thing I was missing in my living room was a sheep. I didn’t want another armchair or pouf but wanted something unexpected. I could obviously not afford a Lalanne original but she said “don’t worry I got you”. She was in St Barths and found me the animal that I know call Choubie Sheep (my cat is called Choubie)! It’s a real conversation starter at my parties. I also love the beaded Ostrich that I got at women’s workshop in a community in South Africa. My living room is kind of a zoo but each animal has a story.
Carla: When is your favorite time to host?
Manola: I am a terrible cook but am good at assembling a good guest list and putting ham on a plate so I would say "apertivo" is more my thing. Also love to throw a big party during the Monaco Grand Prix where I invite my friends coming in from everywhere. It just means I cannot buy a nice rug as it always gets stained with Aperol !
Carla: Which room do you spend most time and why?
Manola: Definitely my living room. I workout on my carpet, paint or get my nails done on my dining table, read books and gossip with my friends on my sofa. A real multi-purpose room !
Carla: What’s your latest purchase?
Manola: A painting that my friend Charlotte Leimer did representing people on Zoom Calls. You think it's scary but I find in a funny interpretation of how people perceive themselves in front of others, in a such a distorted way. And it’s called Manuela! Also changed my curtains to a new Dedar fabric that I saw in Milan. My mom bought the same for her house without even knowing, that always happens…
