Magritte Pomme

Product description

Magritte painted masked apples in at least a dozen paintings. It was a subject he loved and was often asked to depict. The first version of a masked apple was painted for the cover of View magazine in 1946. Thereafter, the apples are sometimes found alone, sometimes in pairs, sometimes under a day sky - in which case they are titled La Valse hésitation - and sometimes under a night sky, in which case they are titled Le Prêtre marié.
